Athens, the capital city of Greece, is a famous tourist destination. Not only is it an ideal starting point for a trip to the Greek islands, but it is also steeped in rich tradition dating back almost 3,500 years to the beginnings of European civilization. Moreover, it is also home to the first modern-day Olympic games back in 1896 and then again in 2004.

When traveling to Athens for business or for pleasure, you must remember a few simple rules:

1) The road maps seem to have been drawn up by a blind monk. So, just be prepared to take a little time to find where you are going.

2) Eating is not just a necessity in Greece, it's an event! Plan to spend some time eating and enjoy each different course. Some meals go on for hours and include many, many different courses.

3) When choosing between modern Greece and ancient Greece, it's okay to choose a little from "Column A" and a little from "Column B." See it all!
