ati

ATI Technologies Inc., founded in 1985, was a major designer and supplier of graphics processing units and motherboard chipsets. The company has been bought by AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) and renamed to ATI Technologies ULC (or AMD Graphics Product Group).


ATI is one of the two dominating companies in the graphics market besides NVIDIA. ATI's Radeon graphic cards series and NVIDIA's Geforce series dominate the market for video cards today.


ATI Technologies ULC runs an in-house research and development department, the manufacturing and assembly process of its products is on the other hand outsourced.


ATI today is best known for its Radeon video cards, but it has supplied chips for various video gaming systems like the Nintendo Gamecube, Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 as well.
