Make Your Blog Design Work For You

http://www.chrisbrogan.com/ make-your-blog-design-work-for-you/
Everything I've done with my blog design is intentional. I'm not saying that my blog design is perfect, and I certainly have other things I'd like to do in the future, but I wanted to share with you some thoughts about blog design, starting with my blog, but then showing some design ideas from other sites as well. ...

    Institutional Review Boards and misattribution

    http://tushnet.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ institutional-review-boards-and.html

The Institutional Review Blog, in which I have a certain interest, regularly catalogs the failings of IRBs with respect to history and allied disciplines. Now it reports on the damage IRBs do to participatory research, and one story in particular stood out to me: Elwood enlisted non-scholars as "community map makers" in a participatory project.

    Little Brother

    http://lawbites.com/ little-brother/

Concurring Opinions: Cory Doctorow’s latest novel, Little Brother, is technically a young adult novel, but there is something in there for anyone interested in cyberlaw, security, national security law, and oh yeah, a rather fun, although at times scary, tale.

    Are You “Slow”?

    http://qw88nb88.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ are-you-slow/

Are You “Slow”? 17 May 2008 at 0:15 (College/University, Teaching/Tutoring, attribution errors) “I, myself, was always recognized . . . as the “slow one” in the family. It was quite true, and I knew it and accepted it. Writing and spelling were always terribly difficult for me.

Immediate impacts of a warming world

    http://blogs.nature.com/ climatefeedback/ 2008/ 05/ immediate_impacts_of_a_warmi…

Nearly 30,000 phenomena in the natural world - from the timing of plant flowering to the rate of ice melting - are being influenced by human-induced global warming, according to the first study to formally link trends in biological and physical systems to rising greenhouse gas emissions.

On Attribution, The Ars Technica Story

    http://howtosplitanatom.com/ news/ on-attribution-the-ars-technica-story/

And now for a blog post about blogging. This one comes with inspiration from my friend Matt Ingram, and the topic is an allegation thrown against one of my favorite sources of news and commentary — Ars Technica.

    Giving Attribution: Significance and Convention

    http://techticker.net/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ giving-attribution/

Duncan Riley at the Inquistr has written a very significant post recently on “Giving Attribution” [11 May 2008] citing the importance of citing your sources and giving credit where credit is due. Blogs and the attribution dilemma

    http://mathewingram.com/ media/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ blogs-and-the-attribution-dilemma/…

I wasn’t going to jump into this one, mostly because it seemed kind of “inside baseball” (i.e., not that interesting to lots of people), but as we all know one of the main things the blogosphere likes to do is blog about blogging, so I thought I would take a crack at the Ars Technica brouhaha.

    The Ethics Tipping Point?

    http://www.profy.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ ethics-tipping-point/

Have we finally reached the tipping point for actually stating that we have ethics and where we draw those lines? It wasn't even a month ago when I mentioned that all bloggers may need a personal code of ethics as detailed as Kara Swisher's if we wanted to be taken seriously as journalists.
