The auto industry has been a backbone for the US economy for decades. The big three auto manufacturers: General Motors, Ford and Chrysler were part of 41% drop in sales in 2009, due in large part to still floundering economic conditions.

Despite economic fluctuations, the worldwide production of cars in 2007 was more than 73 million. During 2007 the auto markets in North America and Japan fell flat while Russia, Brazil, India and China saw the most growth in auto production and sales. Canada is the 9th largest auto producer in the world; during 1918 to 1923 it was ranked as the number two producer of automobiles. Nowadays, cars are frequently fitted with vehicle tracking devices, which has enabled the GPS industry to flourish.

Auto blogs have made a huge impact on the way consumers buy new cars, obtain auto industry information and shop for all auto services including repairs, towing and insurance. Autoblog was ranked by Forbes as one of their 2009 favorites. Autoblog includes five or more articles on the auto industry, aftermarket information and ranking and informative reviews on cars, engines and touring/racing cars worldwide.
