If you like to watch your automobiles racing around an oval NASCAR track on television while you are saddled on either side by a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and a bag of Wavy Lays, then more power to you. But if you are one of those people who want to see your automobiles up close and in person, then there is nothing quite like an auto show.

There are two main types of auto shows in the world:

The first type happens bi-annually and is a public exhibition of current models, debuts, concept cars, and out-of-production classic cars. These auto shows generally cost money to attend and are heavily attended by car companies because they are a great source of public relations and advertising for them.

The second type of auto show happens much more frequently and is considered a "car rally" or "car enthusiasts event." These car gathering events are more localized, typically consisting of car enthusiasts who meet to socialize and enjoy their enthusiasm with other car owners. Auto shows like these allow people to walk up and look under the hood, kick the tires, and talk to the owners of these fine specimens of speed.
