Avast is a line of antivirus products developed by the Czech company ALWIL Software which consists of a free antivirus software and commercial products with additional features.

Avast 5, the latest version of the security software, has been released recently. Avast 5 is free from virus and spyware threats, email and web attacks. The commercial Avast Pro Antivirus adds to the basic protection a sandbox and script shield.


Avast Internet Security is the top of the line product that includes a firewall, antispam, identity protections on top of the protections offered by the two other versions.

The security software Avast Free antivirus is available for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
