Bankruptcy is bad news. It destroys your credit, it can destroy your relationships, and it can destroy your life. There are many ways one can avoid bankruptcy and these options should be explored before anyone files for bankruptcy. Here are a few other tips:

1) When someone calls you a "valued customer," hang on to your wallet! They do not care about you or your value as a customer, they just care about getting more of your money!

2) A lot of people just think to themselves, "Why should I work out when I can just buy bigger clothes?" Not a good idea. A new wardrobe is expensive and can drive you closer to bankruptcy.

3) Finally, some "Debt Relief" programs actually advise people to file for bankruptcy! They advise people to stop paying their bills and begin moving into bankruptcy because, they say, it is a better route to becoming debt free. Once you stop paying your bills it's Check and Mate.
