backups

Tag details

Backups are copies of data in computer terminology. The most basic form of a backup is to copy the data to another location.

Computer users usually run backup software that is specifically designed for that purpose to backup data locally or remotely.

Most programs that allow a user to backup data offer multiple storage locations to store the backups. The most common ones are local backups on hard drives, media like CDs or DVD and removable devices such as USB sticks or remote backups that are stored on servers in a computer network or on the Internet.

Backups
play an essential part in disaster recovery strategies and are sometimes the only option to restore data to its initial status.

You'll find bloggers talking about backups at sites like Connected Internet
and Windows 7 News.
