Rising global grain prices helped spark the largest increase in monthly food costs in nearly 20 years, as consumers paid more in April for cereals, baked goods, and the dairy, meat and other animal products that rely on feedstocks, the government

    Quad Berry Pie

    http://thehomemadevegan.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ quad-berry-pie/

So I thought I would kick off my blog with a pie- not just any pie a BlueberryStrawberryRaspberryBlackberry Pie or for short The Quad Berry Pie. We love pie at my house and this one turned out wonderfully, the crust was flaky and buttery and the berries…oh the berries how we love thee.   Flaky

A Greek and Turkish excuse… and then a Sugar High!

    http://gujfoodguide.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ a-greek-and-turkish-excuse-and-…

I’ve been away. To Greece and Turkey for nearly three weeks. That’s why no posts… (Phew! I’m so glad to have a decent excuse this time!) But I have been on a glorious holiday, and needless to say, the two countries were a foodie’s delight. Say Greece and Turkey, and feta cheese and olive come to my vegetarian mind.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies & Toblerone Cookies

    http://www.eatmedelicious.com/ 2008/ 05/ white-chocolate-macadamia-nut-cookies.h…

These cookies may just take the chocolate chip cookie champion title from the Neiman Marcus cookies. I was really happy with how soft they were, and how they were a bit chewy with slightly crispy edges. The taste of the actual dough was good but I'll try adding a bit more vanilla next time to see if that can make the cookies even better.

    Banana Pina Colada Mini Muffins

    http://twintables.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ banana-pina-colada-mini-muffins.html

Do you like Pina Coladas? Well what's not to like? Pineapple, coconut and rum are a fantastic flavor combination. We took the Pina Colada to a whole new level by changing it from a drink to a muffin and with the addtion of banana. On May Day, Lei Day, we decided to throw a party to celebrate the Hawaiian culture.

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

    http://pepperplease.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ chocolate-peanut-butter-cookies.html

Mmmmm sooo good. After a case of a "missing" chocolate mint bar I had to come up with something else to do with this dough and what goes better than peanut butter and chocolate. Not much! Pepper added by Joey - this is a dumb question Ingredients 3/4 cup margarine 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 2 tablespoons

    Coconut Cream Pie

    http://bountifulbakeshop.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ coconut-cream-pie.html

If I had to pick one dessert besides ice cream, that was my favorite, it would be Coconut Cream Pie. It is my idea of a bite of heaven. I like meringue for my topping, not whipped cream; but you certainly can use whipped cream, if you prefer. I also like a 6 egg white meringue, and will give the recipe for 4 or 5 egg whites as well.

    http://bountifulbakeshop.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ mississippi-mud-cake.html

This cake is too good to be true!! Everyone loves it from the very young to very old. It comes from "Kitchen Keepsakes" cookbook and you will be making it often. 2 sticks margarine or butter(although I think margarine works better in this)2 cups sugar4 Eggs1 tsp.

…but it might still be cheating to use cake mix.  Sorry.  I’ll work on it sometime WHEN I’M NOT TAKING FINALS. Some combinations recently used: Lee mama’s friend’s son’s old home ec class recipe.  Enough possessives?

    Starry Almond Mini-Cakes

    http://twofatals.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ starry-almond-mini-cakes.html

It occurred to me yesterday that I have to empty my kitchen before I move out in one week, so we decided to poke around for items to use up. Unfortunately, using up the items in my cabinet meant shopping for more items to cook them with, so I'm not sure if we really succeeded in our mission.
