Two years ago I did a Ray Baretto memorial piece on the heals of a Dilla tribute. Then Billy Preston died less than two weeks after we lost Desmond Dekker. And late last summer Max Roach passed within a week or so of Hilly Kristal's death (then Joe Zawinul died just a few weeks after that).And it's happened again.

He came up playing with Jimmy Hendrix in his “Band of Gypsys” from 1969 to Jimmy’s death in 1970. Buddy then went on to play with a few other bands, one of which was the Delfonics as well as a number of recordings on his own.
