That means, among other things, that we’re gorging ourselves on fresh vegetables from the garden – my father figures that being 80 years old is no excuse for avoiding hard work, especially if there is fresh corn at the end of it.

The storm knocked out electricity in Yangon, the country’s largest city, and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless, according to the Associated Press.
