Groundbreaking television journalist Barbara Walters is a writer, newscaster, and interviewer. In 1974, she was the first female co-host on national broadcast news. President Richard Nixon gave her his first interview after his 1974 resignation, six years after the fact. Her exclusive with the former White House intern Monica Lewinsky made broadcasting history as the highest-rated news program for a single network.

Walters has served as a commentator-at-large for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). As an on-air correspondent, she has reported on many political events including several presidential inaugurations and as moderator for the final 1976 Carter-Ford debate. Her subjects have included Fidel Castro, Prime Minister Menachem Begin of Israel, and President Anwar Sadat of Egypt in a joint meeting.  Renowned celebrities like Princess Diana, Sophia Loren, Katherine Hepburn, and Michael Jackson have also granted her interviews.

Currently, she is a co-host on TV's The View which features a panel of personalities, all women, discussing national and world events.
