Beagles are small scent hounds traditionally used for tracking, so their sense of smell is superior to other dog breeds. One of the world's most loved dogs, Snoopy, was a Beagle! Beagle puppies are playful and intelligent, and their intelligence only grows with maturity.

Beagle puppies resemble Foxhounds in appearance, and when they mature, Beagles look like Foxhounds, only smaller. Foxhounds are also scent hounds. Foxhounds are not only good for hunting, they make exceptional show dogs and family pets. Foxhounds are intelligent, playful animals.

German Shepherds also tend to be loved by Beagle lovers. Though different in appearance, the temperament of a German Shepherd is not all that different. Loyal to their families, a German Shepherd prefers to herd over hunt, unlike the Foxhound.
