C.S. Lewis once said, "Many things – such as loving, going to sleep, and behaving unaffectedly – are done the very worst when we try hardest to do them." Of all these things mentioned by Lewis, for none is it more true than sleep.

It seems we can all fall asleep when we don't really WANT to do so. Whether we are at work, watching a movie in a movie theater, or even while driving, we can fall asleep sometimes at the drop of a hat. But when it is bedtime and we lie down in bed and TRY to go to sleep – that's when the trouble begins.

Warm milk has been known to make people drowsy. Following a regular schedule (no naps during the day!) can also help you fall asleep quicker at night. Count sheep. Keeping your bedroom quiet and dark will help your body unwind. A good mattress (latex mattress or spring mattress) can also do the trick. And finally, reading an old college or high school math textbook has also been knows to make people very, very drowsy.
