Last week I was sent an email from Austin Bike Blog reader Joseph, about new bicycle lanes from 38th to 45th on Medical Parkway. I walked this stretch of Medical Parkway on Wednesday, and took a few photos of this new bicycle route, along with sending an inquiry in to the city about them.

This weekend, I was walking around south congress while waiting for my bicycle to be worked on at Tsumani Cycles (hi guys!) when I walked by some of the side streets and saw this wonderful bicycle lane. Reporter Andres Viglucci wrote a nice piece chronicling the City’s growing commitment to becoming a bicycle friendly city. He writes: Whether it’s out of fear of getting crushed by two tons of speeding metal, the clueless motorists or the near-total lack of bike lanes, Miamians have long been notoriously bike-averse.

We filled you in recently on the North Bayshore Drive Bicycle lanes - from what we have heard, the city is working to adapt this project to include the lanes.  No official word yet, but we will keep you posted as we hear more.
