Right around the end of November, with generally a month to go until the holidays, consumers are ready to start buying their Christmas or Haunakah gifts. Fortunately for them, one particular 24-hour period seems to be the day where all the great deals are found. That day, the day after Thanksgiving, is what retailers like to call Black Friday.

Black Friday has two origins for its name, but they both point to the same selling event. According to Wikipedia, "the term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day. More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit)." In either case, it all points to buying a variety of goods, including games, TVs, and, toys, at cut-rate prices from retailers nationwide.

With the advent of the Internet, more and more Black Friday sites are popping up and in some cases offer advance copies of these ads listings all the deals. These sites include, Blackfriday.info, Black Friday 2008, and Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com.
