blog action day

Tag details

Blog Action Day is a non-profit awareness raising event, that gives voice on different global issues every year by uniting bloggers, podcasters and videocasters. In this event, the blogging community around the world share their supportive opinions, points of view, ideas on a particular global issue and engage in global discussion.

The first annual Blog Action Day gathered worldwide participants to discuss the environment on October 15th 2007. At that event, 20,603 bloggers participated, and several members of Technorati’s top 100 blogsites were among that list. A wide spectrum of opinions and ideas were exchanged through 23,327 blog posts on environmental issues.

On October 15th, 2008 Blog Action Day united 12,800 bloggers, who collectively wrote 14,053 blog posts on the theme of poverty. At that event the united bloggers donated $3,159(USD) to Blog Action Day's official BAD08 charity as well as other non-profit organizations such as Feeding America, Donors Choose, World Hunger Relief, and many others.

As the yearly event draws nearer, you can expect to see increased conversation about it on the blogosphere.
