blue

Tag details

Blue is a color that, on the visible spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, has a wavelength of 440-490 nanometers. In the English language, any color from navy blue to cyan is considered to be blue.

Traditionally, blue is considered a primary color with orange as a secondary, complementary color. Traditional dyes and pigments include azurite, ultramarine, milori blue, cerulean blue, and cobalt blue. These colors have largely been replaced by synthetic dyes.

On the HSV Color Wheel, yellow is the complement to blue.

In English, blue can be used symbolically to mean sad or depressed. It may also be used to refer to the male gender, in contrast with pink for the female gender.

Blue
may also refer to a variety of publications, films, songs, and miscellany. Several examples are Blue, a fantasy novel by Lou Aronica; Three Colors: Blue, a 1993 French drama; "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," a song by Eiffel 65; and Blue, a programming language.
