Ladyada writes- Running out of space in your big Arduino project? Good news! Finally, after months of backorders, one can now buy the latest improvement to the 'ATmega8′ line of chips: the ATmega328's. The '328 has 32K of flash, and 2K of SRAM. Basically its got the capacity of an ATmega32 but in a slimmer package. ...

Dev Team Takes Two Steps toward iPhone 3G Unlock

    http://mytriniphone.com/ blog/ 2008/ 10/ dev-team-takes-two-steps-toward-iphone-…

I have been really busy recently with life, work and everything NOT iPhone. It seems to have pissed a few people off, others sent me SMS/emails messages saying that I had obviously given up on iPhones and unlocking my 3G and I had no time for the blog etc. Well to be honest, I kind of have (had).

    Windows Boot Manager

    http://www.ghacks.net/ 2008/ 09/ 20/ windows-boot-manager/

Many users shy away from installing multiple operating systems on their computer because of problems that can arise in the boot sector. Some operating systems like to replace the existing boot information with their own which would mean that the user would have to find a way to replace or add those boot information again so that all operating systems would show up when booting the computer.

Wii Backup Loader Leaked: Homebrew's Days Numbered

    http://gaygamer.net/ 2008/ 09/ wii_backup_loader_leaked_homeb.html

A few weeks ago, I heard about this new homebrew application being developed that would boot backups of commercial Nintendo Wii software on an unmodded system. I proceeded to groan, and silently hoped that the whole thing was just some elaborate prank and that we would hear no more about it.

Archos 5th generation hacked, bigger drive possible

    http://hackaday.com/ 2008/ 09/ 18/ archos-5th-generation-hacked-bigger-drive-pos…

Over at the ArchosFans.com forums, [grond] has posted some screenshots of his cracked archos 5th generation. Using a custom bootloader, they’ve unlocked the ability to swap hard disks as well as some hidden plugins. The plugins seem to be used mainly for dev tools, like core dumps and screenshots, but this opens the door to possible future homebrewed plugins.

    Reorder your Boot Menu Manually

    http://fosswire.com/ 2008/ 08/ 09/ reorder-your-boot-menu-manually/

Intermediate Last week, I covered how to use KGRUBEditor to re-order the boot menu you see at startup, so that dual boot users could move Windows to the top of the list if they would like. It is also relatively simple, however, to manually reorder this menu by editing the configuration file of GRUB (that’s the boot loader).

Reorder your Boot Menu with KGRUBEditor

    http://fosswire.com/ 2008/ 08/ 02/ reorder-your-boot-menu-with-kgrubeditor/

Beginner Install Now KDE Maybe you’ve just installed a dual boot system. It’s all going well and good, but when you start the computer, Windows appears at the bottom of the boot menu. You might still want to use Windows as your primary operating system, and so pressing down a few times and Enter each boot time could get frustrating.
