Breast implants are silicone rubber shells filled with either silicone gel or inflated with a saline solution. An implants purpose is to enlarge and/or change the shape of a woman's breasts.

Breast implants come in three basic shapes: the moderate profile, the moderate-plus profile and the high-profile implant.

Breast implants are for cosmetic purposes only.

Other terms used for breast implants include breast augmentation, mammoplasty enlargement, breast enlargement, augmentation mammoplasty or boob job.

The FDA breast implant guide is adhered to in order to be sure materials that are used for breast implants are safe and effective.
