The way that things were shaping up throughout this year was ugly.  The downturn in the economy.  The lay-offs and closing of stores.  The rise in gas prices and traveling costs.

For this Monday Mixtape I’m going back to one of my favorite music eras..Classic House Music of the 80’s and early 90’s. Remember the hankerchief in the back pocket? It was part of the outfit but you still needed it to wipe up the sweat! When everyone would take a turn in the circle and work their best moves? I sure do! I miss those days at the Sound Factory, Tunnel and the Clubhouse.

What an amazing May Day reading -- sure, it could have been shorter -- 3-and-a-half hours is a bit much (we were supposed to do three minutes each, but let's just say that most people went a little over), but wow such an incredible range of performers and a rare opportunity to connect across so many of the boundaries that rarely shift in the ways that could create everything that’s possible.

Decline in sales is something to be expected and in this case of sofa retailer, Land of Leather, such a crisis should not really be surprising. Action plans to help make up for previous poor performances are to be expected but the thing is, you really have to consider the fact that the times today are really hard.
