brownlining
Brownlining is the act of fly fishing in dirty water, often tainted with farm effluent, sewage, and is often found in urban settings. Once scorned by anglers, private access and trespassing dominates the pristine waterways, and brownlining is the last unfettered access to fish you're likely to release.
Fishermen crave catching and only occasionally enjoy eating, and the combination of barbless hooks and care in handling allows anglers to catch fish without undue physical harm, or mortality.
Wading through the dregs of urban society and the castoff furniture, lawn mowers, and medical waste, replaces the tall pines and lofty mountain vistas with something urbanized and familiar. It's an acquired taste, but with the decline in wilderness and the onset of global warming, brown water is on the rise.

Gordon dubbed it) on the second pass. The first time he came three feet out of the water and missed my fly. Good thing I remembered to ...4 weeks ago
