bruce springsteen
Bruce Springsteen is an American rock star whose body of work dating from the early seventies to the present places him in the rare company of such artists as Bob Dylan as a living legend. Equally at home performing folk based music on such solo acoustic albums as Nebraska and Devils & Dust, or within the big arena rock setting of the E Street Band, the common thread in Springsteen’s work has always been its tales of ordinary people trying to rise above their working class circumstances.
Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, Springsteen first rose to national prominence with his 1975 album Born To Run, which landed him on the covers of Time and Newsweek the same week. Nearly ten years later, the 1984 album and tour Born In The USA made him an international phenomenon. Following that success, Springsteen shied away from the spotlight, marrying, splitting from the E Street Band, and making "smaller" records like The Ghost Of Tom Joad. Since reuniting with the E Street Band for a reunion tour in 1999, "The Boss" has however come back stronger than ever, most recently completing a world tour in support of his 2007 album Magic.
