cable tv

Tag details

Cable TV is a method of offering television (movies, TV shows, etc.) to consumers by way of RF (radio frequency) signals. The signals are transmitted to television sets through coaxial cables (or fiber) rather than the over-the-air method used traditionally.

Going the Cable TV route, rather than over-the-air, allows viewers even in remote areas a reliable way to access a wide variety of Cable TV shows that they may not have been able to get with antenna style broadcasting.

These days, cable companies in the U.S. deliver hundreds of channels to 60 million+ homes. Other services transmitted over the coaxial cable that extend beyond television may include high-speed Internet access and voice-over internet protocol (VOIP) telephone service.
