carbon emissions
Although some think that talking about carbon emissions and the Greenhouse Effect has become the Temple of Boredom in our current society, there are some things about it that are worth mentioning. Did you know you can reduce carbon emissions by changing the light bulbs in your home to fluorescent instead of incandescent? You could also try burning wood pellets, a carbon-neutral fuel.
Carbon Emissions are often blamed for the Greenhouse Effect in earth's atmosphere. However, it should also be noted that there are also gases that cause The Greenhouse Effect on other planets in our solar system like Mars and Venus, both of which have no life inhabiting them. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone are all other contributors to The Greenhouse Effect.
A recent assessment report put together by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says that "changes in atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases and aerosols, land cover, and solar radiation alter the energy balance of the climate system. Increases in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations is very likely to have caused most of the increases in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century."
