Back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and even 80s there was nothing more exciting than sitting around the living room with the latest Sears and Roebuck catalog. Toys, clothes, tools, appliances, etc. filled each page. It was a magical book. It meant Christmastime was here again. It meant gifts to give and receive. It was infotainment! The world was literally at our fingertips.

And some remember the days when you would go to the library and use a card catalog to find the book or books for which you were looking. The card catalog was neatly organized by the Dewey Decimal system to help you track down just the book you were after.

Well, that has all changed. With the internet, most people have turned to Google and Yahoo to search for things rather than Sears and Roebuck and the Dewey Decimal system. More and more people are turning to a web catalog when looking for information, rather than reaching for a catalog. With search engines, a web catalog, and clickable results, the days of flipping through pages may be over.

But as fun and exciting as the internet is, there was just something about flipping through that old catalog that will always have a place in our history and our hearts. Bloggers speaking about catalogs can be found at sites like blogcatalog and freecatalogs.
