Stupid Technology
http://www.chatbugkaren.com/ 2008/ 07/ 31/ stupid-technology/I get so frustrated with my cell phone. It seems that my aunt was trying to reach me, or rather was trying to reach my mom. Their brother, my uncle, passed away and my aunt was trying to tell us. With all the technology we have these days, why is it so hard to make a phone call? It must have been frustrating for my aunt to need to talk to someone and not be able to get through.

Friend of the site and local hiker Alana Semuels lays out the differences between carriers in the area. Short story: T-Mobile? Sucks. AT&T? Not bad, in spots.

Cell Ranger USB cell phone booster
http://www.slipperybrick.com/ 2008/ 06/ cell-ranger-usb-cell-phone-booster/The Cell Ranger has nothing to do with the Lone Ranger in a jail cell, though if that happened he would in fact be that cell’s ranger. It’s a cell phone booster, like this one. It plugs into your computer through the USB port and then, with an on-board microprocessor filtering out unnecessary signals, it amplifies the signals that your cell phone actually needs.

Whales To Wilderness - 5 Star Nature Retreat Experience
http://redux.quinews.com/ 2008/ 05/ whales-to-wilderness-5-star-nature-retreat-e…Departing Cape Town at approximately 10h00 one morning, I headed north up the N7, the main route up the west coast, towards the Cederberg mountain area. Turning off at Clanwilliam and taking advantage of the last cell phone reception area, I made a quick phone call to the lodge advising them of my arrival time.
