Cellulite is a skin change that occurs in most adult females and presents as a dimpling of the skin in the pelvic region, lower limbs and abdomen. Cellulite is caused by the herniation of subcutaneous fat cells, which leads to an orange-peel appearance.

Scientific evidence shows that hormones may be involved in the occurrence of cellulite. With the exception of androgen-deficient men, cellulite is almost never seen in males. Diet and lifestyle choices may also play a role in the presentation of cellulite. For this reason, improving one's diet and exercising more should be the first-line cellulite treatment.

Other kinds of dermatological treatments, gels and creams may also help visually improve the skin, although there currently isn't any known cure for cellulite.
