  I have an AD20vt, as my practice amp (very similar) and microphonic pickups will squeal at extreme gain settings. THe Fender WRHB pickups of the kind found in a Tele DEluxe will do this. If the SGs P90s are unpotted, the same will happen with them.

  I painted an old and really grungy Peavey Studio Pro. It worked great and so far has held up fine. I used black paint - the Krylon thats made for painting plastic lawn furniture. My only complaint is the paint is a little glossier than I wanted.

  I believe Vince Gill uses a Rivera - he gets a great Tele through a Twin sound. Probably not much lighter than a Twin, and it might be more expensive. I think your best bet would be would be a Silverface Pro Reverb.
