champagne

Champagne is a sparkling wine, often opened and drank in celebration of a great occasion. It is produced exclusively in France within the Champagne region, hence its name.

Events like weddings, birthdays, engagements and sometimes holidays are often celebrated with a champagne toast. Champagne gifts are also quite common for these special events.


Champagne bottles are often corked with plastic and require a special bottle opener to "pop" it open. This "popping" of the cork is said to add excitement to the event, and often signifies the beginning of the celebration.
