My Husband is Not My Keeper

http://www.temporarilyme.com/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ my-husband-is-not-my-keeper/

If your life was a message, what message would that be?

Now there’s a great prompt to help you think about ways to change your priorities at midlife. I’ve decided the most important message I would like my life to express is: Never give up on yourself. I have been so tempted at times to give up on myself and others in my life.

Nights in Rodanthe: The Queen’s Quips

    http://midlifecrisisqueen.com/ 2008/ 10/ 06/ nights-in-rodanthe-the-queens-quips…

The first question that came up for me as I first read the book, and then watched the film Nights in Rodanthe was, what is Rodanthe and how do you pronounce it? According to Wikipedia, Rodanthe (roe-DANTH-ee) is “an unincorporated community located in Dare County, North Carolina, on Hatteras Island, part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

I promised about a week ago to get back to the amazing amount of great information in Sue Shellenbarger’s book: The Breaking Point. In this book she talks about many things including the differences between men and women. Why we get into a midlife crisis and what types of triggers set us up for this turbulent time in our lives.

Yes, women do experience midlife crises!

    http://midlifecrisisqueen.com/ 2008/ 09/ 25/ yes-women-do-experience-midlife-cri…

I have recently discovered a goldmine of information about women in midlife. Sue Shellenbarger’s book The Breaking Point shows how much research has already been done in this area, and is well worth reading! It also normalizes the experiences we are all having right now.

    Welcome to “middlescence”

    http://midlifecrisisqueen.com/ 2008/ 09/ 23/ welcome-to-middlescence/

Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most. Feeling dazed and confused? Could this be your second adolescence? Sociologists created the new term “middlescence” to define the disequilibrium created by midlife confusion, something I now call midlife hell.

5 Books to Read on the Quest for a Better Life

from Personal Coach David Bohl When I was thinking about writing on this subject, I thought about how subjective this actually is. Anyone who is on the quest for a better life most likely has their bookshelves overflowing with “self-help” or “personal growth” books.

    Suicide or change?

    http://midlifecrisisqueen.com/ 2008/ 09/ 08/ suicide-or-change/

I changed my mind and now it works better! I saw a story on CBS Sunday Morning today about transgendered persons who come to Trinidad, CO for sex change operations when they can no longer tolerate the hypocrisy of living in the wrong type of body for their psyches.

I just wanted to share something that’s going on in my own life. I recently wrote a post about a job I applied for: How I Stupidly Screwed Up Getting a Job Interview. In it, I explained how a simple typo…ok…two typos…in an e-mail exchange with a recruiter may have cost me a new job.

    Catching Up On Life

It appears I was able to make a connection with some of you when I shared my decision to cross my own Rubicon in an earlier post. Since I continue to receive emails about it, I decided to digress today from my usual posts to take you behind the curtains. Update no.
