Channeling is the act of someone living communicating with someone who has passed away. Sometimes this is a loved one, sometimes it is just someone that person admires and wants to speak with.

If you are going through a rough patch in life and you get to the point that you will do anything – including, but not limited to anything – to communicate with a loved one who has passed away, then maybe you should consider channeling. If you have lost a loved one and are feeling like you would do anything to connect with them again, you may consider channeling. If you are mourning the loss of a loved one and hot cocoa and hugs only go so far, you might consider channeling.

Derek Acorah, spiritual medium and clairvoyant, describes channeling thusly: "I stand back detached and I can hear the spirit person I am channeling, but I can't hear it clearly - and then suddenly it goes blank, that's really when they are in.”

Historically speaking, seances and mediumship were the midwives of channeling. They were the precursors. It has since become a very popular activity, albeit very controversial. Bloggers speaking about channeling can be found at sites like erinpavlina and connectwithyoursoul.
