chicago
Throughout history, Chicago has been well known for its politics and its architecture. On the political front, the trend continues with the amazing story of the first black president, Barack Obama (also the first blogging president), as well as the seedy story of Rod Blagojevich. Chicago is also the birthplace of the skyscraper and today the city continues its vertical trend with an ever growing skyline.
Above all, Chicago is a sports crazy town. In football, "Da Bears" remain the darling of the city no matter how they perform and in baseball, the Cubs-Sox rivalry is the stuff of legend. Chicago sports are marred by their share of scandal as well, chief among them the infamous 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal.
Of course, no conversation about Chicago is complete without at least mentioning the Mayors Daley (father and son), and the current push for Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics.
