Check it out. Gallery 1988 just got in a shipment of STRANGEco’s Vivisect Playset special SDCC ‘08 edition. The collector’s edition set features all ten figures by Anthony Ausgang, Luke Chueh, Peter Gronquist, Thomas Han, Joe Ledbetter, Greg “Craola” Simkins and Amanda Visell (including chases) in exclusive Comic-Con colorways.

So, it looks like you’ll be getting your new piece of Luke Chueh artwork at your local Amoeba or Virgin Megastore. Luke Chueh has graciously shared his genius with the lads from Fall Out Boy. He did the illustration for their new album Folie A Deux. Regardless if you are a fan of FOB, the album art is undeniably cool.

I like a good art jam as much as the next guy, but when the players include such luminaries as Luke Chueh, Amanda Visell, Jeff Soto, Tara McPherson, Ragnar, Lolo, Frank Kozik, Jeffrey Scott, Gris Gimely, James Jean and Gary Baseman my level of like graduates to love.

At my last trip to Munky King, I noticed that they had some new t-shirts on display. The new designs are part of Munky King’s artist series. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who was able to purchase Luke Chueh’s Possessed, so I really like these designs. I’m not a fan of the Old English lettering, but the Possessed figure looks great.

Here is the rundown of all the killer art shows that will be happening this weekend. Friday: “The Poor Man’s Art Show” opens at the Rock, Paper, Scissors Collective in Oakland. The reception is from 5pm to 9pm. All the art from this group show will be under $50.

The 4th Annual Blab! Show will take place from September 6th to September 27th at the Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. There’s a dedicated Blab! Show website where you can view details of fine art pieces by Tim Biskup, Shag, Gary Baseman, Travis Louie, Gary Taxali, Walter Minus, Sas Christian, Ron English, Luke Chueh and many more.

What a unique idea. Designers Chueh Lee and team from Samsung, China came up with Touch Sight, a digital camera for the visually impaired. The cam records sound when the shutter button is pressed and can be used as a reference for managing the photos. The device has a lightweight Braille display sheet with a 3D image instead of an LCD.

Tonight is the night that the latest “I am 8 Bit” show opens up. This time the show is at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery. I took a look at the site, but no work there yet and not sure where they are going to put it. There is a killer list of artists in the show, some great new ones and one that are veterans of the 8 bit art show.

I will admit, upon first reading and laying eyes on this design I almost laughed out loud. Not because of the design, but for its intended purpose. Designer Chueh Lee over at Samsung China has designed what may be the worlds first camera for the blind, the “Touch Sight”. Yup, you read me right…a camera for the blind.
