http://www.pbs.org/ idealab/ 2008/ 09/ are-we-ready-for-citizen-journ.html| Comments: 0 Over the past two posts, I've suggested ways educators could use the campaign bio videos produced for the two national conventions as a way of encouraging civic literacy. Citizens, local government, and yes the feds too.

When I returned home I noticed the air was perfectly still and muggy. Well no more. We just looked out the window and there is a good strong wind moving through ... the tops of the trees are swaying.

If only Lamb had an N95: How newspapers can succeed online
http://www.dave-lee.org/ jblog/ ?p=361At Auckland airport I bought Christina Lamb’s ‘Small Wars Permitting’, a stunning collection of her finest articles, with her own reflective commentaries throughout. Bit like those special features on DVDs that have director commentary over the film.

Wonder why we do local reporting in class activities? Look at CNN … if it’s good enough for them …
http://www.auburnmedia.com/ wordpress/ 2008/ 08/ 20/ wonder-why-we-do-local-repo…OK, I’ll admit. This is a little bit of a personal rant. I happen to know some people with ideas.

Outdated and useless wire services: BE GONE!
http://www.dave-lee.org/ jblog/ ?p=326Reuters mobile journalism kit. I really, really want one. Picture: KevGlobal (Flickr) This post is for the June Carnival of Journalism. Andy Dickinson has posed this question: Is (digital) journalism better the more local it is and what does that do to growth? And I’ll attempt to add my views on that question by bringing up an idea that’s been bubbling in my mind the last couple of days.
