Clogging is a form of dancing similar to tap. The major difference in clogging is that a double metal tap is used on the shoe to emphasize the sound. It is influenced by many of the European dance forms, as well as Canadian step dancing and breakdancing. Country and traditional bluegrass music are most regularly associated with clogging, but cloggers today usually dance to pop, rap, hip-hop, or anything else with a fast beat.

The Blogosphere and other major media sources tend to pay the most attention to clogging when it is spotlighted on popular television showsincluding So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Got Talent.

Due to its unique style and perceived difficulty, people unfamiliar with clogging find it an enjoyable form of entertainment. Cloggers themselves experience many other benefits, such as increased coordination, developed flexibility, lowers blood pressure, increases endurance and strength, and a great form of stress relief.
