    Freedom in the Cloud?

    http://fosswire.com/ 2008/ 10/ 08/ freedom-in-the-cloud/

Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation and outspoken critic of anything proprietary, recently slammend ‘cloud computing’ as “stupidity” and a “marketing hype campaign”. It makes sense the Stallman is against cloud computing - by its very nature it requires you to be running software on someone else’s machine, which you have no control over.

Microsoft's Cloud Strategy: A Mystery wrapped in an Enigma

    http://www.elasticvapor.com/ 2008/ 10/ microsofts-cloud-strategy-mystery.html

Is it just me or does Microsoft's apparent cloud strategy lack any kind of focus. Between their love of various code names, Red Dog, Mesh, Live, Zurich, and Windows Cloud to name a few. I have absolutely no idea what in the world they're planning on doing.

    Cloud Computing & the Economy

    http://www.hyperic.com/ blog/ hyperic/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ cloud-computing-the-economy…

The scariest part of today’s economic turmoil is how preventable it was. I am not talking about additional supervision of an uncontrolled finance sector. What cloud computing isn't

    http://blogs.computerworld.com/ what_cloud_computing_isnt

There are lots of discussions going on right now about cloud computing is, I even touched on at least some aspects of that last week. This story at Slashdot touched on the issue, and the Cloud Computing GoogleGroup is full of the discussion. But I feel there isn't enough definition of what it isn't.

Yahoo Pipes: you’ve got to go there to come back

    http://brendancooper.com/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ yahoo-pipes-youve-got-to-go-there-to-com…

If anyone’s been following my Twitter feed recently they’ll know that I’ve been getting to grips with Yahoo Pipes. I think it’s an amazing tool and offers the tantalising possibility of creating a wholly modular monitoring system, effectively through programming-like routines which, through a neat graphical interface, largely remove the need for knowing how to program.
