Colostrum is created by Mother Nature to protect new-born animals (and humans) against disease, and at it's purest state, has a much higher concentration of protein while maintaining a lower fat content than that of the milk that comes after the colostrum has depleted.

Various colostrum products have been created for humans to take in supplement form (usually a powder) to assist in some of the health benefits we achieved as new-borns had we been breast fed.


Colostrum is supposed to provide animals with anti-bodies from the "giver" (usually the mother) to help prevent the "receiver" (usually the child) from getting the particular illnesses the given anti-bodies are to protect against.

Of the top colostrum supplements, there is the organic bovine colostrum supplement. It is harvested within six hours after the cow gives birth, but only after the calves have had their necessary intake.
