Com is similar to .com or dotcom, and is generally understood to mean company. Dotcom or .com is the TLD, or top level domain, that is the most popular and widely-recognized on the world wide web.

It is rumored that if you can find a .com that is an exact match for your keyword(s), you have a huge advantage over your competitors in terms of search engine domination and ranking in Google. It is said that Google's algorithm gives a lot of weight to a keyword-rich url, as opposed to one that is more concerned with the brand and uses their company name in their domain instead.

In the early days of the internet, there were many generic terms for domains that were snatched up, which then received thousands and even millions of hits (visits). Investors became giddy about the possibilities of the monetization of all of this newly-acquired traffic. But the euphoria was short-lived, as many of these dotcoms didn't find a way to turn hits to their websites into real accounting revenue.

With a .com, the moral of the story is whether you are on page one, number one makes no difference until you can put points (dollars) on the board. Bloggers speaking about com can be found at sites like Managed Hosting Services and VOIP Telecommunications Solutions.
