    WP-Spam Free getting my recommendation

    http://wptutorial.com/ blog/ updates/ wp-spam-free-getting-my-recommendation

Been playing with a few different spam plugins for various blogs to see which seem to work best. WP-Spam Free is getting a thumbs up here. I have been running it for the past 2 weeks and it has done a great job here. There is no captcha with it which I have found really limits the number of comments I get.

While email systems make a breeze of distributing spam messages en masse, the medium has another not so apparent benefit, it makes being deceptive or untruthful far easier, something not so simple to accomplish in face-to-face, or even in handwritten, communications.

Comment Spam Article on the Google Webmaster Central Blog

I hate comment spam. I think it’s safe to say we all do. So how do you keep it off your blog or forum? Check out this article I wrote on the Google Webmaster Central Blog with some ways to prevent comment spam. It’s interesting that one of the commenters brings up compliment spam - I just wrote about it on this blog a little while ago.

How to Deal with Comment Spam?

    http://www.balkhis.com/ for-starters/ how-to-deal-with-comment-spam/

Comment Spam has become a big issue on Balkhis as it is growing rapidly. Even though most people say Akismet does the job, well it does do a job by reducing the thousands that it had, but if the amount is really high then it gets passed akismet.

Image by Getty Images via Daylife Due to the huge amount of comment spam I have been getting over the last few days I have turned off comments temporarily. It's not as if I have been doing anything on the poor neglected blog lately anyway.

    Mollom and human comment spam

    http://dag.wieers.com/ blog/ mollom-and-human-comment-spam

Bart, In your article you seem to be confusing automated spam and normal people trying to advertise commercial websites through on-topic comments. The problem I have been seeing for some time, (and Kris recently as well) is that normal people send on-topic opinions (or sometimes mangle the content with some general question) to make it seem as if they are part of the discussion.

    Do you Seed Blogs?

Way back (snicker) in the early days of blogging, I figured out that commenting on other blogs was hugely successful. The majority of growth in those young days was due to my participation in the conversation in other blogs.
