commerce

The man living right next to the railroad tracks was once asked by a friend, "Do you hate the sound of the trains every night while you are trying to sleep?" To which the man replied, "No. No, I don't. To me a train is the sound of the wheels of commerce. And as long as commerce is moving, things are going to be okay with the world."

The wheels of commerce are truly the bloodline of society. And as long as they are still moving, we are all going to be okay. There will be jobs and there will be money.


Commerce is the language of the nations, but in order to learn what commerce is, one must descend right down into the Armpit of Labor. Right into the Nostril of Industry. That is where commerce is forged. And it is forged out of toil, effort, and struggle.


Commerce can mean trade. It can also mean the exchange of services and goods from one party to another. Information, money, service, etc. can all be exchanged in the process of commerce. And, ultimately, commerce is what drives capitalism and business.
