Community refers to an interconnection of people and their respective cultures, unified within a specific geographic area sharing similar interest and ideals. A community may also include of interrelation of people within the blogosphere sharing similar ideological beliefs, which are communicated through the internet.

The two essential aspects of community, then, pertain to both the idea of a sharing of information and an interconnection of people seeking access to this information. A community is inherently devoid of traditional leadership and is itself sustained by its objectives and ideals.

Within the information age, the concept of community has transcended the traditional notions of geographic location for a broader conception of community as connected through the internet.
