    http://www.miss-thrifty.co.uk/ 2008/ 09/ 24/ discount-composter-savings-all-roun…

Our new composter arrived today. It looks like this: We have put it out in the garden, behind the shed. You dump the peelings etc. in the top, and scoop out the resulting compost through the sliding hatch at the bottom.

    Cooking in the yard

Well, it was not one of my shining moments, but in the interest of full disclosure, I aired my dirty side yard. It's one of those catch all places that I just kept "dumping" everything in during projects.

Doing Our Part For The Environment

Remember to enter FeeFiFoto's Fall Fame Contest. The winner's name will be drawn on September 15. Good luck! A guy walking through a cemetery comes upon an open grave. He's astonished to see Beethoven sitting at the bottom of the hole with an enormous musical score on his lap and a huge pink eraser in his hand.

A little progress, and a failure.

    http://apaetoday.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ little-progress-and-failure.html

Here's what I started with. Yeah, it was that bad. Even worse actually, I had already started to clean up a little before I took this picture. Those old chicken feed bags are actually full of sawdust and chicken poo that needs to be composted. The old pallets, well, their gonna be the compost pile.

We are only about 2 weeks from finishing the first phase of homes in Good and that means we are going to be installing the Naturemill kitchen composter soon. They all arrived yesterday and I quickly brought one of them home to try it out. Its an amazingly well built little machine.

What are the benefits of corn based plastic?

Photo by: Majiscup Corn plastic or PLA (polylactic acid) cups, utensils, and packaging have been popping up everywhere and I have been curious how they stack up against conventional plastic. It seems obvious that plastic made from corn would be more eco-friendly right? I did a little research and compiled a list of PLAs green pros and cons.
