Computers change so quickly that many feel an upgrade every year or two is simply a necessity to stay up with current computing possibilities. And many people are starting to look for ways to repair rather than replace. That starts with understanding computer components.

Computers don't need to be scary. And fixing your computer yourself isn't the rocket science many fear it is. Computers are made up of different components, and there are literally millions of sites on the internet that explain computer parts, what they are used for, how to install them and how to purchase the right ones. So jump in! Do some research, and learn how your computer works. One note: It is helpful to have access to a separate computer with the internet while you are fixing yours. You'd hate to open it up the first time and then realize you can't check the internet to make sure you're on the right track!
