computer parts
Computer parts are the individual components and pieces of equipment which make up a computer.
Although software programs are also an important part of what makes a computer run — particularly operating systems like Windows, MacOS, or Linux — computer parts more commonly is a term used when referring to hardware. These can range from smaller, but no less crucial components like microprocessors and memory sticks, to things like video cards, mother boards, and disk drives. All of these things would be considered computer parts.
When you go shopping to buy computer parts, you might also be looking for additional pieces of hardware to add to your system such as a printer, a scanner or monitor. These pieces of hardware would normally not be considered so much as computer parts, as they would be add-ons. Things like flash drives and USB routers likewise fall into the add-on category, because these are things you normally add to an existing system, rather than parts of the original unit.
You'll find bloggers speaking about computer parts at sites like Howstuffworks and ComputerKnowledgeForYou.com.
