conservative
A social conservative is, generally, one who believes in tradition and traditional values as a method for preservation of a nation and its culture. Of the millions who consider themselves conservatives, of course, there is a wide range of belief and practice. Overall, however, conservatives believe that social change should not be embraced purely for the sake of change, but that steps must be taken to protect a way of life based on simple and pure values.
Fiscal conservatism promotes a reduction in government spending. Fiscal conservatives often advocate deregulation of the economy, balancing the federal budget, and reducing the national debt.
In the blogosphere, conservatives generally oppose themselves to liberals in political and cultural debates. Just as there are moderate conservatives, so are there extremists; in the politically-charged climate of the online world, extreme opinions and pundits can sometimes drown out more moderate voices.
