consumer electronics

Tag details

Electronics refers to the flow of electricity through non-metal conductors, such as silicon. Consumer electronics is the term is most commonly used for electronic devices and equipment sold to, and used by, consumers. (In some cases, though, there are Professional/Broadcast electronics which are mistakenly referred to as 'consumer electronics.')

Devices in this category include: cameras, camcorders, radios, CD players, mp3 players, personal computers, televisions, DVD players, DVRs, calculators, GPS navigation systems, cell phones and any other piece of equipment using silicon chips in their construction.

Blogs about consumer electronics tend to review electronic devices, or carry news and announcements about them. Of course, as with anything else in the blogosphere, there can also be random ramblings and rants about consumer electronics, too. In fact, because consumer electronics are so pervasive in everyday life, ranting about them can be a regular event, and quite cathartic. This does show up on various consumer electronics blogs.

Some examples of blogs featuring consumer electronics include: blogs.consumerreports.org/electronics/, gizmodo.com, and techradar.com/, to name just a few.
