Contact lenses are used to replace prescription glasses.

Contacts help a person see better if they become near or far sighted or develop other visual impairments.

The lenses are soaked in a solution when not in use to avoid drying up and then are placed directly onto the patients eyes.

Contacts are usually used for corrective or therapeutic reasons but may also be worn cosmetically. In this case they may be colored to make the wearers eye appear to be a different color.

Lots of contact lenses available now have UV protection to help protect the natural lens of the eye from the suns harmful rays.
