coworking
Coworking is a relatively new social activity involving loosely related individuals working remotely from a home or off-site from the office. Coworkers may or may not know each other, and are typically organized around creative social groups or independent contractors.
Metropolitan areas of Austin, San Francisco, Houston, Portland and New York are pioneering coworking activities; LaunchPad Coworking in downtown Austin, Texas describes itself as "the future of work." Another such coworking site named Caroline Collective sells space as a subscription, with membership levels announced as:
(1) Digital Drifters - receiving free WiFi, coffee, a bike rack, and the ability to network.
(2) Laptop Nomads - priority usage of desktops and workspace, printers, and conference rooms
(3) Professional Pilgrims - Dedicated desks with lock & key storage, space rental, 24/7 access. Your own key.
With the rise in single owner businesses, coworking is popular with entrepreneurs that want independence, yet crave getting out of their "bubbles." Coworking is still largely experimental with loose social connections making up the vast majority of coworkers. According to CNN: "Next phase of working at home:Leaving home."

I’ve spoken to many home workers and freelancers over the last few years and one of the common themes that comes up time and time again is the speed at which the human brain spirals down into self-doubt and lack of confidence when left too long to its own devices.
