At the end of 2009, a small medical research article came out of the University of California San Francisco that suggested a calculable increase in sunscreen wearing by patients who received a text message from their doctor's office. The text said something like "Wear Ur SPF". The study showed that those who were texted wore sunscreen over 25 percent more often than those who weren't.
Small reminders do make a difference in helping ideas staying current in the minds of people. Where reminders have met fashion today is in the custom wristbands industry. The vast majority of these popular wristbands are made out of durable but flexible plastic with a small insignia or phrase etched into them. Some are business logos, others motivational statements or pleas for charity causes. Regardless, because they are worn they are read and re-read constantly by the wearers and those they interact with. They are a great "reminder" for just about anything that can be printed around a wrist.
